Students learning about the objectives and consequences of fisheries management strategies through an interactive role-playing game “The Daily Catch”

As a fellow in the GK12 program “Partnership between Educators and Researchers for Enhancing Classroom Teaching (PERFECT)”, I spent one year as a ‘resident scientist’ in a high school environmental science classroom, teaching a range of topics from population dynamics to climate change.  Partnered with a local teacher, we worked together to integrate research into the curriculum, experimenting with hands-on activities and lessons centered around discussions and debates.
